Diverse Abilities Plus

Diverse Abilities Plus provides invaluable care and support for children with disabilities through a specialist school, respite home, and youth club, and play sessions and activities at weekends and school holidays.

The charity seeks to work with people throughout their lives through providing an adults day centre and specially adapted supported living accommodation. Combined this work supports nearly 500 families in Dorset.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including Leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other Lymphomas, and Myeloma. 110,000 people, children and adults alike, are living with these cancers today. The charity’s scientists and doctors work in over fifty of the top research centres across the UK seeking to improve diagnosis of blood disorders and treatments for patients, and to find a cure for blood cancers. They support patients, their families and friends by providing them with a free information service including a range of over 40 publications.

Haskins Roundstone:

Jamie’s Wish grants wishes across the UK to children and young people up to the age of 25 that have a life threatening illness. They also help these children and young people, and their families, by providing a grant in order to ease their financial situation during this often stressful time. Wishes are granted to bring a little joy to these children. Jamie’s Wish operates from the support of Jamie’s family, friends and volunteers, who donate their own time to help run Jamie’s Wish events. These events raise the money that make wishes come true. Jamie Terry was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in December 2003, and he bravely fought for three and a half years against the disease.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice is a truly amazing specialist palliative care service that touches the lives of more than 3000 adults with life-limiting cancer each year throughout Southampton and South Central Hampshire. The service comprises of 4 key areas: a 25 bed in-patient unit, a day care centre and a community team of doctors and nurses all based at Countess Mountbatten House in West End, Southampton and a hospital palliative care team based within Southampton General Hospital. The aim of the charity is to provide funding that is over and above that provided by the NHS, enabling the services offered to be enhanced, all with the aim of providing additional care and improving patients’ quality of life.

25.02.13	Garden Centre’s £1000 Donation For New Macmillan Cancer Support Campaign A cheque for £1000 has been presented to Macmillan Cancer Support by the Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre near East Grinstead after customers and staff participated in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event and other fundraising events.

14.02.13	Bank Advertising Campaign Appearance Benefits Greenfingers Charity For Hospice Gardens To thank Julian Winfield, the Chief Executive of Dorset based Haskins Garden Centres, for representing one of four businesses featured in Santander’s recent national advertising campaign, including a promotional video, the bank offered to donate £1000 to a charity of his choice.

14.02.13	Wishing Well Dedicated to Diverse Abilities Plus Fundraising The charity wishing well at the Haskins Garden Centre at Longham, is to support the Dorset based charity Divers Abilities Plus for the remainder of 2013.

31.01.13	Garden Centre Customers Thanked for £2,424.43 Cheque to The John Thornton Foundations The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation has received a cheque for £2,424.43p presented by General Manager Simon Morris on behalf of staff and customers at the Ferndown Haskins Garden Centre.

18.12.12	Children’s Christmas Evening Raises £565 For John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation The staff and visitors who attended the Haskins Garden Centre’s annual Children’s Christmas evening raised over £565 to support the range of activities and support provided by the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

10.12.12	Forrest Row Family Wins Brightest Festive Home Competition The Bowden family from Forrest Row were guests of honour at Haskin’s Snowhill Garden Centre’s annual Children’s Christmas evening to fundraise for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research.

29.11.12	Hampshire Rotary Clubs Fundraise £1035 at Annual Dinner Nine Rotary clubs from Hampshire raised over £1035 through ticket sales and a raffle at the annual dinner held at the Haskins Garden Centre restaurant at West End.

05.11.12	Halloween Horror Evening Raises £300 for Follow Your Dreams Members of the Follow Your Dreams fundraising team joined in the fun at the Kids Charity Halloween Evening organised at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton.

26.07.11	Garden Centre Customers Thanked for Rifles Care for Casualties £1160 Donation Thanks to the generosity of customers over the last 9 months at a Dorset garden centre, a cheque for £1160 has been presented to the Rifles Regiment’s Care For Casualties Appeal.

21.04.11	Rosemary Reaches £4000 Sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Peru Hike Generous customers at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, donated over £335 in just 2 days when they met Rosemary McKenna who is to participate in a hike across the mountains of Peru to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.

20. 04. 10	Spring Fundraising Event for British Heart Foundation An fundraising event held by the Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre near Copthorne has raised over £200 for the regional branch of the British Heart Foundation.

6. 04. 10	Zach Wins Easter Bunny Hunt! Two year old Zach Winn from Southampton has won the Haskins Garden Centre Bunny Hunt held on Easter Saturday.

16. 12. 09	Christmas Evening Fundraises for Naomi House Children’s Hospice Over 500 children attended a special Christmas evening organised by the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton to fundraise for Naomi House, the children’s hospice. Father Christmas and his band of helpers offered children activities including story telling, glitter tattoos, a raffle and donations.

09. 12. 09	Christmas Fundraising Success for Worthing MENCAP Thanks to the generosity of Christmas shoppers, the helpers and members of the Worthing MENCAP society raised £445 in just one day (Sunday 6 December) of collecting at the Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre. The money will contribute to the running costs of Buddys, the information centre and café operated by the charity on South Farm Road, Worthing, which opened 3 years ago.

23. 11. 09	Roundabout Flows for Garden Centre Xmas Evening A special Christmas Shopping Evening held by the Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre at Copthorne to help boost sales after months of low sales due to construction work of the new roundabout outside the centre was successful.

20. 11. 09	Vegetables Presentation Fundraises for Jubilee Sailing Trust A presentation entitled Bring Your Vegetables To Life by Rosie Yeomans, a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time, has raised funds to enable more people with a range of disabilities to participate on the tall ships owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
