The members of the East Surrey Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild displayed their work at a number of venues in the region for the National Celebration of Stitch day. (Sat 2nd August). The Chairman Anne Sillifant was joined by branch secretary Joy Buchan and membership secretary Alison Dixie at the Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre. Visitors had the chance to learn of the vast range of creative techniques and materials encouraged by the branch that has over 50 adult members and also thriving Young Embroiderers Group who enjoy regular workshops and courses.
“The East Surrey Branch is now in its 31st year and currently has members aged between 20 to 90 within their adult membership,” said Anne. “We hope that by meeting new people we have encouraged some to join us to not only enjoy a craft but to make new friends at our fun meetings.”
Some of the branch members will join a special exhibition at the Greenstede Gallery, Chequer Mead in East Grinstead on the 19th September. Anyone wishing more information can contact Anne Sillifant by calling 01737 242354 or visit www.embroiderersguild.com
