Ferndown in Bloom is a
free competition, open to residents and businesses in
the Ferndown area.


The aim of this fun event is to create beautiful gardens and outside spaces, encouraging a sense of community pride and recognising those who have contributed to the beauty of Ferndown.

The 2011 competition has now been judged and the winner of the best front garden category, Lyn Ovens, has been announced. All other winners will be announced at a special presentation evening on Wednesday 28th September at 6.30pm at Haskins Garden Centre.

Please note, back gardens can only be entered into the competition if they satisfy all the judging criteria

   

How to Enter
Complete and return your application form to Haskins Garden Centre by Saturday 9th July 2011 – Ferndown Carnival Day! You will also be able to enter at the carnival, come and speak to us at our stall.

To enter the best photograph category please send your picture (hard copies only please) to FiB, 34 Kingsway, Ferndown, BH22 9QW. Pictures will be displayed and judged at the presentation evening in September.

 

Judging
Judging will take place between
25th – 31st July 2011. Judging of the tallest Sunflower competition will take place on 10th September 2011.

 

Winners
Winners will be invited to attend a presentation evening at Haskins Garden Centre where they will be awarded their prize and certificates. Over £500 in Haskins Gift Vouchers and prizes are awaiting the winners!

Honors Green Fingered Winners

The winners of the Ferndown In Bloom competition were presented their trophies, prizes and certificates at the award ceremony hosted by the committee Chairman Steve Lugg at the Haskins Garden Centre restaurant.

This year’s Ferndown In Bloom competition to find the homes and commercial properties with the most flower power in Ferndown has been officially launched by committee members.

Bulbs Planted by Ferndown In Bloom Volunteers
Ferndown In Bloom committee members were joined by other volunteers from the town to help plant over 4000 Daffodil and Hyacinth bulbs as part of a project to enhance the environment.

First Time Entrant Wins Ferndown In Bloom Competition
First time entrants Douglas and Valerie Briggs from Dorset Avenue in Ferndown gained the Overall Winner award, and top of the best front garden category, at the annual Ferndown In Bloom award ceremony hosted by the Haskins Garden Centre.

Blooming Kern Appeal Judges Prepare
While waiting to judge the Ferndown In Bloom competition entries from the 19 July, Tim and Sue Hamlett have been encouraging residential and commercial property owners in the area to enter one of the 4 main categories.

In the presence of the Town Mayor Cllr Queenie Comfort, the winners of the 2009 Ferndown In Bloom competition were presented their awards by committee members District Councillor Lesley Dedman and Town Councillor Steven Lugg.

Ferndown in Bloom Winners Announced
The winners of the 2009 Ferndown In Bloom competition have been announced. Three Judges took over five hours to inspect the forty eight entries from residential and business properties that have participated in the revived competition that did not happen in 2008 following low entry numbers the previous year.
