Don’t Leave Dogs in Cars Warns Garden Centre Boss

Julian Winfield, the Managing Director of the Haskins Garden Centres group that owns garden centres near Bournemouth, Crawley, Southampton and Worthing, has instructed managers to send regular patrols into car parks checking that cars do not contain dogs during the heatwave. His instruction follows media reports that many dogs across the country have been “cooked” in cars and the owners have been condemned by both the RSPCA and Police.

“ We are reminding dog owners that they are welcome to bring their canine companion into the centre and staff will be more than happy to provide water for our four legged visitors,” said Julian Winfield. “We hope that people will remember that the same applies to young and old people who need equal consideration if they are left to wait in a car.
