New Head of Retail Operations Promoted
at Haskins Garden Centres

The £30 million turnover Haskins Garden Centres group that owns garden centres near Bournemouth, Southampton, Crawley and Worthing, has promoted Dean Ridley as Head of Retail Operations. Dean, from Storrington, joined the group as General Manager of the West End centre near Southampton in 2006 and prior to the promotion was Manager of their Roundstone centre near Worthing. His previous experience was with Homebase for 18 years.

Haskins Chief Executive Julian Winfield, who was the last person to hold the Retail Operations role before his promotion to MD in 2006, said that he was delighted to welcome Dean Ridley to the head office team.

“ Dean’s experience and ability has made him the idea candidate to provide the day to day support to our General Managers and report direct to myself and the board regarding the initiatives that are required to increase our market share and profitability, and the issues that challenge any business striving to achieve that goal,” said Julian Winfield.

The horticultural company Haskins was founded by the great grandfather of Chairman Warren Haskins as a nursery in Poole in 1882. The first garden centre was opened in 1969 with a staff of 7 people. The group now employs over 500 full and part time personnel.
