Hospital Memorial Garden Opened
A memorial garden at the Queen Victoria Hospital at East Grinstead has been
opened thanks to the support of the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund.
Harry Townsend, who launched the charity in 1999 following the death of his
wife Myfanwy, who died of malignant melanoma, was joined by hospital grounds
staff John Hobden and Kevin Tyrell who designed and built the garden, Lisa
Tilling and Brenda Gillingham from Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre that sponsored
the project with £100 worth of plants and reconstructive plastic surgeon
Paul Banwell. Specialist skin cancer nurse Jackie Blunt, whose initial appointment
has been funded by the Charity, also attended the ceremony.
