Xmas Sales Give 20% Boost to Garden Centre Group

Whilst some people complain about retailers opening their Christmas departments as early as September each year, Julian Winfield, Chief Executive of the Haskins Garden Centre group that owns 4 centres in the south located at Ferndown, Dorset, West End near Southampton, Roundstone near Worthing and Snowhill at East Grinstead, believes that the 20% increase in Xmas product sales so far compared to last year proves that shoppers are happy to make purchases early.

“We, like most garden centres, will welcome the chance to finish the year on a high following a difficult trading year where the weather created peaks and troughs in horticultural sales,” said Julian Winfield. “Our overall sales figures for the year are currently 7% up compared to last year.”

He believes that that the vast range of traditional Christmas products, with the introduction of seasonal tableware and the latest illuminated trees and over 50 animated characters will help to ensure that sales growth will continue until Christmas eve.
