Wishing Well Dedicated to Rotary Club Fundraising

The charity wishing well at Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton has been made available to the Hamble Valley Rotary Club for the remainder of 2010. The club’s Community Chairman Bev Smith was joined by Rotary members Robin Marsh, Dennis Purser and Neal Evans to inspect the refurbished well that raises thousands of pounds a year thanks to the generosity of the centre’s visitors.

Matt Hill, General Manager at the centre, has also arranged for the Rotary Club to fundraise on selected weekends during the year.

Peter Burnage, Public Relations Officer of Hamble Rotary Club said that proceeds from the well and other fundraising activities will support local charities such as the “Hedge End Teenage Drop-In Centre”, the “Stroke Awareness Campaign”, a “Senior Citizens Christmas Party”, a “Youth Project” in association with Eastleigh Borough Council and YMCA Fairthorne Manor, as well as providing support to a number of local people with their own personal challenges.

“Rotary is a world wide organisation, providing support for a large number of projects throughout the world. However, Rotary also support many local projects and we are pleased that Matt Hill and Haskins Garden Centre are able to help us in this work” – Dr Roger Plant, President of Hamble Valley Rotary Club.
