Rosemary Reaches £4000 Sponsorship for
Macmillan Cancer Peru Hike

Generous customers at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, donated over £335 in just 2 days when they met Rosemary McKenna who is to participate in a hike across the mountains of Peru to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support. The donations mean that the Chemical Engineer from Shirley can start the 5 day hike on the 9th May safe in the knowledge that she has already raised over £4000 for the charity that offered her father essential care and support before he lost his fight with cancer last year.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated or pledged money so far,” said Rosemary. “The support has been fantastic. The trek will be tough. Although it is only 42km long it crosses heights of up to 4300m. There will be no luxuries and it will be the first time I have ever been camping!”

Matt Hill, Haskins General Manager said that they were delighted to have helped Rosemary to fundraise. Rachel Winfield and her son Jacob from Southampton won vouchers and a Paddington Bear in a competition to guess the birthday of the bear, who is one of Peru’s most famous characters.
