“The simple message is to keep your presents under wraps,” said Mark Humble. “We are urging people not to leave gifts in their cars and to resist the temptation of leaving presents under Christmas trees which could be spotted by criminals through a window.”
Other advice includes the importance of leaving lights on in the home so that it is obviously not empty during an evening or overnight, not to leave your car and house keys in sight from a window or letterbox as thieves use rods with hooks and magnets if they can be reached, and make sure that you lock up your home.
Matt Hill, General Manager at Haskins Garden Centre thanked the officer for spending time at the centre as customers appreciated the information and advice.
“We encourage Mark to spend some time in our restaurant when he can as he offers visitors a “open surgery” where they can approach him to discuss any concerns or issues that they may have within the community,” said Matt Hill.
