Tasting launches Haskins new cake and patisserie display

Just 16 months since the Haskins Garden Centre at Longham opened its new £2.5m restaurant, a further £80,000 has been invested to create a 12m long cakes, traybakes and patisserie on display.

Kirsty appointed new Manager
for Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre

The 70 horticultural and catering staff at the Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre have a new boss. Kirsty Goble from Fareham, is appointed General Manager of the popular garden centre following a series of promotions that created the vacancy.

Christmas Evening Fundraises for Naomi House Children’s Hospice
Over 500 children attended a special Christmas evening organised by the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton to fundraise for Naomi House, the children’s hospice. Father Christmas and his band of helpers offered children activities including story telling, glitter tattoos, a raffle and donations.

Christmas Fundraising Success for Worthing MENCAP
Thanks to the generosity of Christmas shoppers, the helpers and members of the Worthing MENCAP society raised £445 in just one day (Sunday 6 December) of collecting at the Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre. The money will contribute to the running costs of Buddys, the information centre and café operated by the charity on South Farm Road, Worthing, which opened 3 years ago.

Roundabout Flows for Garden Centre Xmas Evening
A special Christmas Shopping Evening held by the Haskins Snowhill Garden Centre at Copthorne to help boost sales after months of low sales due to construction work of the new roundabout outside the centre was successful.

Vegetables Presentation Fundraises for Jubilee Sailing Trust
A presentation entitled Bring Your Vegetables To Life by Rosie Yeomans, a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time, has raised funds to enable more people with a range of disabilities to participate on the tall ships owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

Garden Centres Support BBC Tree O’Clock Free Tree Distribution
All of the Haskins Garden Centres are expecting a large consignment of tree saplings that will be made available free to the public and schools taking part in the BBC Tree O'Clock Guinness World Record Attempt that will take place across the UK.

Xmas Sales Give 20% Boost to Garden Centre Group
Whilst some people complain about retailers opening their Christmas departments as early as September each year, Julian Winfield, Chief Executive of the Haskins Garden Centre group that owns 4 centres in the south located at Ferndown, Dorset, West End near Southampton, Roundstone near Worthing and Snowhill at East Grinstead, believes that the 20% increase in Xmas product sales so far compared to last year proves that shoppers are happy to make purchases early.

The Sheriff of Southampton, Cllr. Carol Cunio, presented the winners of the Southampton In Bloom competition their awards at a ceremony attended by over 100 people held at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End.

In the presence of the Town Mayor Cllr Queenie Comfort, the winners of the 2009 Ferndown In Bloom competition were presented their awards by committee members District Councillor Lesley Dedman and Town Councillor Steven Lugg.

Three Judges took over five hours to inspect the forty eight entries from residential and business properties that have participated in the revived competition that did not happen in 2008 following low entry numbers the previous year.
