With its large, cherry red flowers, it's easy to see how this rose was chosen by the RHS as their Rose of the Year 2018.

'Lovestruck' is a floribunda rose with lightly scented, double-petalled blooms, complemented by glossy dark-green foliage. It flowers prolifically throughout the season and following numerous rose trials, has shown 'outstanding health and vigour.'

Bred by Colin Dickson of Dickson Nurseries, Northern Ireland, it has also been awarded a Gold Standard in the British Association of Rose Breeders rose trials and received a Gold Medal in the Royal National Rose Society International Trials.

As with all floribunda roses, pruning is normally done in late winter (February to March). We recommend that the most vigorous stems are cut back to within 25-30cm of soil level and their less vigorous stems cut even more severely.

Roses are hungry plants that respond well to generous feeding. They grow in almost any well drained soil and benefit from a mulch of well-rotted manure during the winter. In the spring and summer, feed with a specially formulated food, such as Top Rose, to keep them looking good.

Water regularly in the first year after planting, especially in prolonged dry spells. Once established, they can survive on the moisture naturally present in the soil due to their deep root system.

We think 'Lovestruck' will be a popular variety offering any garden a bold splash of colour.
