Jonothan Taylor, plant expert at Kyoto Bonsai, is set to visit customers at Haskins Garden Centre in Snowhill on Thursday June 14, to give hints and tips on the art of bonsai.
From 10am to 2pm Jonothan will be on hand at the centre in Crawley to answer any bonsai related questions.
Lisa Looker, brand director at Haskins Garden Centre, said: “We’re really pleased to have Jonothan from Kyoto Bonsai join us at the centre. This free workshop is aimed at anyone who would like to learn more about bonsai. As well as demonstrating the art, Jonothan will be able to provide hints and tips for bonsai care.”
Bonsai is translated from Japanese as ‘planted in a container.’ The art form has been around for over a thousand years, with the goal of creating a miniature but realistic representation of nature in the form of a tree. Using various cultivation techniques, any tree species can be used to grow one.
Kyoto Bonsai was established in 1987 and is the UK’s leading wholesale supplier of bonsai trees and accessories. With a customer base including garden centres, specialist bonsai nurseries, market and show traders, their products are distributed throughout the UK via temperature controlled transport.
Jonothan Taylor, plant expert at Kyoto Bonsai, commented: “I’m looking forward to returning to Haskins to help customers with any queries they may have about bonsai. I’ve worked with bonsai for over 10 years, having travelled to the Far East on many occasions to source the highest quality specimens.
“With Father’s Day just around the corner, this talk could be the perfect opportunity to pick up a bonsai tree for dad.”
