Haskins Garden Centre in West End has donated more than £30,000 to Mountbatten Hampshire – the local hospice for Southampton and west Hampshire, over the past 10 years as its charity partner.

More recently, the Haskins West End team raised £5,600 in 2021 for Mountbatten Hampshire through various fundraising events including raffles and quiz nights. The team also sold knitted eggs to customers, in addition to organising collections to raise funds.
Over the past 10 years, the money raised through various fundraising initiatives, events and collections, has funded Mountbatten Hampshire’s support services that are offered to those with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Becky McGregor, Director of Operations at Mountbatten Hampshire, said:

“The support we have received from Haskins and their customers over the last 10 years has helped ensure we continue to provide and grow our services when they are needed most.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported us - your donations really do make a difference.”

Haskins West End chose to extend its support of Mountbatten Hampshire last year due to the essential work the hospice has done to help the relatives of some of West End’s employees and customers.
Sophie Menjou, West End’s Customer Service Leader, said:

“Each year we look to make a difference and help a local cause by selecting them as our chosen charity. Members of our team here at Haskins West End have had first-hand experience of the amazing work the hospice already does, so we wanted to help them in return by choosing to support Mountbatten Hampshire as our official charity partner for the past 10 years.
“The last two years have been difficult for everyone. Despite this, the brilliant fundraisers from Mountbatten Hampshire remained positive, carrying out their fantastic work. I am so proud of the funds we have been able to raise to allow the charity to continue delivering their invaluable services to our local community.”

After 10 years of support for Mountbatten Hampshire, Haskins West End has selected Friends of PICU, based at Southampton General Hospital, as its 2022 Charity Partner of the Year.
