Now celebrating her 20th Haskins Christmas, Michelle is back to share her tips for recreating our displays at home.
Michelle’s Guide to a Noel Tree
If there’s one look that will never go out of style at Christmas, it’s traditional red, green and gold – and our Noel theme celebrates exactly that!
Think rich reds, deep greens, touches of tartan and plenty of gold, brought together with beautiful faux floristry and decorations full of festive character.
For our Noel displays, our teams have created two different takes on the theme. One has a slightly more elegant feel, with beautiful tartan fairies and an abundance of poinsettias, while the other leans into Christmas cheer and nostalgia with standing Santa’s, rocking horses and oversized tartan stockings.

The Fo
undations – Tree Choice & Lights
For both Noel trees, we’ve used a pre-lit Newberry Spruce, available in various widths, heights and styles. Exclusive to Haskins, this tree gives you a brilliant starting point for creating a full and traditional Christmas display.
Although the Newberry Spruce is already pre-lit, we always add more to our displays using the ‘warm-white tree lights’ from The Yuletide Company, also exclusive to Haskins, to create that cosy Christmas glow.
The Wow Factor – Faux Floristry
Faux floristry plays a huge part in both of our Noel trees, with rich red poinsettias dotted throughout. We’ve mixed plain and glittered varieties to add different textures and catch the warm lights beautifully.
Rather than using a traditional tree topper, we’ve also grouped poinsettias at the top of the trees. It’s a simple trick that carries the theme right to the very top while adding plenty of height and drama.
Top Tip!
On our fairy Noel tree, the team has used a clever shortcut that you can easily recreate at home. A green pine garland featuring metallic floristry and berries has been wrapped down the tree in a swag style. The greenery blends into the branches, leaving the decorative details visible throughout the tree without having to position every individual stem yourself!
The Bells & Whistles – Baubles & Ornaments
When it comes to baubles, Noel is all about those classic Christmas colours. We’ve layered gold, deep red and green baubles in a mixture of sizes and finishes, from matte and glitter to beautifully shiny styles that reflect the lights.
From here, you can take Noel in two different directions.
For our first 
display, delicate fairy decorations in little tartan skirts are nestled amongst the branches, pairing beautifully with the deep reds, greens and poinsettia floristry.
Our second tree has a more nostalgic feel. Large standing Santas have been carefully secured amongst the branches alongside tartan stockings, traditional rocking horses and other characterful decorations. Using larger pieces like these creates focal points throughout the tree and is a great way to bring some personality to a traditional theme.
The finished result is everything we love about Christmas – warm, nostalgic and unmistakably festive!
