Log piles mimic fallen trees, providing shelter for small mammals, amphibians and insects. The worms and grubs that come to inhabit it also provide food for birds and all sorts of interesting fungi can end up growing there.

Within a year or two, a diverse wildlife community can be created in and around the pile, to the whole benefit of the surrounding garden. 👍🦔🐸🐛🐝🐦🐞

With its distinct cabbage like foliage, Ornamental Kale offers lots of interest at this time of year. They come with either pink or white foliage and can easily be partnered with the same colour combination of heather and cyclamen.

Adding a splash of colour at this time of year, indoor Cyclamen come in shades of pink, red, violet and white. The indoor varieties will bloom for several months and can be kept to provide another display next year.

They prefer a cooler room, with bright light, indirect light, with their compost kept moist at all times.

Cyclamen can be indoor, annual or perennial plants, with the perennials being perfect to naturalise under trees.

'Tis the season to be planting for Wallflowers!

At this time of year, there's a good colour selection available and it's a perfect time to get them into the ground to complement your spring flowering bulbs.

Growth is best in any sunny spot with good drainage. They are often grown successfully in loose wall mortar, hence the ‘wallflower’ name!

The flowers usually have a strong fragrance and are often associated in spring bedding schemes. We recommend pairing them with tulips and forget-me-nots for a beautiful spring display.

Our late season hedging plants have arrived in time for autumn!

With the warm days and cooler nights, this time of year is perfect for planting shrubs and getting a head start on next spring. 🌿🌿🌿😊

Our favourite is Photinia 'Red Robin' - it's red foliage is produced from new growth offering a great alternative from the usual shades of green.

A rarity nowadays, hedgehogs are a valuable gardener's friend, eating slugs, snails and insects.

If you live in an area where they could be present, encourage them to stay by giving them a home in a remote part of the garden.
